Rotterdam's Sohar Port in Oman is struggling

Oman's prestige project, Sohar Port, the joint venture between Port of Rotterdam and the state of Oman, is moving in the wrong direction. Five moves per hour per crane are far from enough.

As part of the world's largest infrastructure project, worth a total of USD 15 billion, the Sohar Port only constitutes a small part. But for the investors this small part is developing into a major problem that could slow down Oman's ambitions of outperforming the other major ports on the Arabian peninsula, as well as the Port of Rotterdam's plan to develop projects far away from the Netherlands.
