The number of work-related accidents with fatal outcomes at APM Terminals has increased significantly in 2014 compared to previous years, according to Børsen (article in Danish). In the first seven months of the year eight people have lost their life, with seven of the incidents taking place in regions such as Africa, Asia and the Middle East. In comparison, the company experienced three fatalities in 2013.
"This is an extremely worrying development we've seen in 2014. We do not want to see any fatal accidents in port areas controlled by APM Terminals, so I'm bothered by the fact that we're now seeing accidents at a time when things have otherwise been going in the right direction for several years in terms of safety," CEO Kim Fejfer (photo) tells Børsen.
