OECD: This is how the ports can make money

The world's ports have four major business opportunities that can help them grow and play a bigger role in the global society, says Olaf Merk, port expert at OECD. Read on to learn the four opportunities.

The Danish ports have yet to recover from the financial crisis in 2008 and are still not seeing the same throughput rate as in the past. The same thing applies to many other of the world's major ports.

But there are four business opportunities that could get the ports back up to speed again, according to Olaf Merk's analyses, he said Tuesday at the conference Port Competitiveness and Business Opportunities 2014, an event held at the Bella Center in Copenhagen as part of Danish Maritime Days.
