Shanghai was the world's busiest port in 2015

The Chinese port city of Shanghai has a good hold on the top ranking as the world's busiest port, measured in twenty foot container units, even thought the closest competitors have yet to publish traffic data. Shanghai made solid gains compared to last year, writes Seatrade Maritime.

The Port of Shanghai can boast of being the busiest port - so far -  in 2015. The port has just released traffic data for containers, and during the past year the port had a throughout of 36.54 million teu, writes industry media Seatrade Maritime News.
