Clarksons weighed down by challenging shipping markets

Broker Clarksons PLC finished the first half of the year with a setback across the books, but the group remains optimistic about developments for the rest of the year.

"The first half of 2018 was a story of two quarters," says Clarksons CEO Andi Case in the UK-based brokerage group's interim report.

The tough shipping markets in the first quarter hurt, but things improved somewhat in the second quarter. But the first six months of the year still finished weaker than in the same period last year.
