Hamburg bank to lend billions of dollars to shipping

Germany's bank Hamburg Commercial Bank, formerly HSH Nordbank, plans to lend up to a billion dollars to shipping each year for the next few years. New head of shipping tells ShippingWatch that the bank is looking beyond Germany.

The name above the door has changed and so has part of the management after former HSH Nordbank changed owners and was re-named Hamburg Commercial Bank.

But although the bank is now privately owned, after a group of investors bought the company from two German states at the end of 2018, one thing remains unchanged at headquarters in Hamburg.
