Trump's call for bigger defense budgets could become OMT's escape from the downturn

The IMO's sulfur cap makes Odense Maritime Technology put its commercial business on hold for a few years. Instead the ship designer bets on navy vessels, as well as the fact that many countries have under-invested in their defense, CEO Kåre Groes Christiansen tells ShippingWatch.

Rather than betting on selling newbuilds to the commercial market, which will at any rate be slow in the coming years, ship designer Odense Maritime Technology, OMT, is instead going all-in on supplying ships for various countries' defense forces.
