Most container vessels scrape the bottom of new CO2-regulation

More than half of the container fleet is at the bottom of the barrel regarding the new CO2 regulation which categorizes ships on their carbon intensity. The consequence could be speed reductions, Maersk Broker Advisory Services says.

According to Maersk Broker Advisory Services, about 55 percent of the container fleet finds itself at the bottom of the ranking list on carbon intensity, according to the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) regulation, which comes into force in 2023.
