Chinese blacklisting of Australian coal hits four Golden Ocean ships

More than 50 dry bulk ships have for weeks been stranded off the coast of China with Australian coal cargoes. The situation raises concerns for John Fredriksen's Golden Ocean, which has four ships directly impacted. One ship has been waiting since June, CEO tells ShippingWatch.

From the headquarters in Oslo, Golden Ocean CEO Ulrik Andersen is currently keeping a close eye on a worrying situation off the coast of China, which is impacting several of the shipping company's own vessels.

A diplomatic dispute between China and Australia means that more than 50 dry bulk vessels have been stranded outside of Chinese ports for at least a month, Bloomberg reported this week. This happens after China allegedly blacklisted the import of several Australian commodities – including coal, which impacts the dry bulk sector.
