Golden Ocean points to the biggest area for lowering fuel consumption

Golden Ocean outlines several areas that could be improved in order to reduce fuel consumption. Marine fouling is the area where improvements could be the largest, says the CEO in an interview with ShippingWatch.

According to Golden Ocean, selecting technology and systems that can tackle marine fouling will be the area in which the shipping company could save the most fuel, the company outlines in an ESG report.

Marine fouling refers to organisms that attach themselves to ship hulls, ropes and so on, which increases friction and resistance and thus lead to more fuel being consumed than necessary.
