As a direct consequence of the accident on M/V Cheshire, the requirements for transporting fertilizer are now tightened. J. Lauritzen has participated in developing the initiatives, which may be passed by IMO within a few months.

The dramatic shipwreck of dry bulk vessel M/V Cheshire has caused the authorities to sharpen demands for transport of NPK fertilizer, an often transported material within the industry.
