Norwegian carrier gets state funding for new ammonia vessels

Viridis Bulk Carriers expects to order its two ammonia vessels by the end of 2023 with support from the Norwegian state-owned investment fund Enova SF.

Norwegian dry cargo shipping company Viridis Bulk Carriers has just landed NOK 152 million, or USD14 million, in support for its new ships from the Norwegian government.

Specifically, Enova SF, a company owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Energy, has invested the large amount of money in Viridis Bulk Carriers to support the realization of two ammonia-powered and climate-neutral ships.
