NYK to build ammonia-powered bulkers with mining major

NYK’s dry cargo unit joins forces with Chilean Codelco to build up to 15 dry cargo vessels that will run on ammonia on routes between Chile and Asia.

Major Japanese dry bulk carrier NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers, NBP, and Chilean copper producer Codelco are joining forces to produce the first dry bulk carrier to run on ammonia as its primary fuel.
