Klaveness: Dry bulk is an unhealthy market

Norwegian dry bulk operator Torvald Klaveness describes the current market as unhealthy, though the company finished the first six months in okay form in spite of the conditions, Head of Drybulk tells ShippingWatch.

The market conditions of the dry bulk market have come as a surprise to virtually all operators and carriers. Norwegian Torvald Klaveness, which operates as many as 120 ships in the dry bulk segment, was also surprised at how poor the first six months turned out to be, says Jan Klingsholm, Head of Drybulk, in an interview with ShippingWatch. But according to Klingsholm, Klaveness reacted fairly quickly to the market trends, a fact that helped pull the operator out of the first half of the year in reasonable shape:
