New study: Wood pellet demand to double

The Korean and Japanese wood pellet demand is rising, leading US-based RISI to project that the global demand will grow from 23 million tons this year to 50 million tons by 2024.

The demand for wood pellets will double over the next decade, according to US-based RISI, which gathers data on the global forest industry.

In a new analysis, RISI estimates that the demand for wood pellets - increasingly used by power plants - will grow from 23 million tons in 2014 to 50 million tons in 2024.
