
China will now upgrade the country's coal-fired power plants, thus in one swoop reducing the amount of harmful emissions from the plants by 60 percent ahead of 2020, according to senior officials form the Chinese government.
The country's state-run news agency Xinhua reports that the move means China will save the environment from emissions totaling 100 million tons coal while also reducing CO2 emissions by 180 million tons annually.
