Drewry projects slow recovery for box carriers in 2018 and 2019

2018 and 2019 will bring a healthy growth in demand, which will surpass fleet growth in the container industry, says analysts Drewry. But rates will only increase slightly this year, says the firm.

The balance between supply and demand looks positive for the container sector this year and next year, and the liner shipping companies can look forward to slightly better freight rates and bigger profits on the bottom line, says analyst firm Drewry in a report which projects that demand in the coming years will surpass fleet growth in the container sector.
