Hapag-Lloyd negotiating with staff to avoid layoffs

Hapag-Lloyd has launched a comprehensive efficiency process that could result in layoffs in the weeks to come, confirms the liner company to ShippingWatch. The company is currently negotiating with staff through its Work Council.

After completing two major mergers in three years, German container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has now embarked on a large-scale process aimed at increasing efficiency, and according to the company these measures could result in layoffs at the organization, which has 12,000 employees.
