The next 25 years could change the global container sector to such an extent that ships, ports, trade patterns – and thus growth – will look completely different than is the case today.

That is perhaps not so strange, many might say, if one compares today's sector to what it looked like in 1993. For instance, the number of shipped containers quadrupled from 1995 to 2016.
