Container rates climb to highest level in a year

Since bottoming out in late March this year, the container spot rate index out of China has soared and has now reached its highest level since the summer 2017.

Spot rates on container shipping out of China increased 3.1 percent in the past week, shows the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI).

The SCFI reached 890.52 points, which is the highest level registered since the same period last year.

Alphaliner: HMM set to go private in 2022
