Development of digital solutions in the shipping industry has accelerated in recent years. However, two crucial factors continue to stand in the way and may hold digitization back despite large investments, according to the World Economic Forum.

Two major hurdles are in the way of ambitions to digitize the shipping industry and abandon the age of manual procedures and extensive paperwork.

But according to the World Economic Forum, the industry coming up with new solutions, platforms and standards to replace paper and documents with digital processes is not enough.
