The total amount of cocaine seized from MSC vessel grows to 18 tons

US customs authorities have now calculated the total amount of cocaine seized from MSC Gayane. It is almost two tons more than originally announced. Authorities continue to search and scan the ship and all containers.

The total amount of cocaine sized by authorities from MSC Gayana a few days ago was not just 15,582 kilograms. In fact, the total amount found aboard the ship amounts to 17,928 kilograms, states the US customs authority in a tweet, announcing that the nearly 18 tons of drugs would have had a street value of USD 1.3 billion had they made it that far.
