Uncertainty continues in container market despite fewer idle ships

Although the number of idle ships in the container industry is down, the outlook remains weak and uncertain, assesses Alphaliner.

The container market remains uncertain although the number of idle ships has been declining throughout 2019 and now only makes up 1.5 percent of the total fleet, writes Alphaliner in its newsletter.

Here, the analyst firm notes that as of June 24, 117 container ships were idle, equivalent to 336,241 teu. That is six vessels and 15,000 teu less than two weeks earlier.
