The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) dropped marginally this week, while spot rates for container freight on major routes between Asia and Europe made a big forward leap, according to data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange, which compiles the index.
The total SCFI dropped by 0.2 percent to 788.93 this week. At the same time, the price for Asia-Northern Europe stormed ahead by 12.2 percent to USD 754 per freighted teu after this rate had been declining for seven consecutive weeks.
