Suez Canal tries to attract customers with discounts: So far without any luck

The Suez Canal is trying to win back traffic with a new discount. So far, according to Alphaliner, the Canal has failed to tempt shipping companies with lower prices.

Since May 1, it has been cheaper than usual to sail through the Suez Canal. However, this initiative does not appear to work as intended, as ships have not returned, writes Alphaliner.

The Suez Canal has lost million of US dollars due to the low fuel prices, which have led Maersk, MSC and CMA CGM to opt for the longer route south of Africa when sailing between Europe and Asia.
