Hapag-Lloyd in talks with shipyards about buying mega vessels

Germany's Hapag-Lloyd has contacted several shipyard to request offers on mega vessels, the container line confirms to ShippingWatch. This happens just one year after the container line also reached out to shipyards regarding LNG-powered mega vessels.

German container shipping line Hapag-Lloyd may be in the process of ordering new ultra-large container vessels.

Hapag-Lloyd recently reached out to several shipyards to request offers on newbuilds in the biggest container vessel segment, the shipping line confirms in a comment to ShippingWatch.

3i buys AMP out of Esvagt

Private equity firm 3i, which owns half of carrier Esvagt, has agreed with the company's second owner, AMP Capital, to take over all of Esvagt for GBP 268 million, making 3i the sole owner. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.
