Red-hot container market consolidated Chinese ports' global dominance

Five out of six of the world's largest ports are now Chinese, after a 2020 that helped cement the country's port dominance. Overall, the development was flat among the world's 25 largest ports, shows a new analysis.

The red-hot container market in 2020 helped cement and expand the Chinese ports' dominance among the global elite.

Five out of six of the world's largest ports are now Chinese, after the port in Qingdao surpassed Busan in South Korea in 2020 as the world's sixth largest port measured in throughput, according to Alphaliner.
