Yara presents autonomous container vessel after multiple delays

Fertilizer firm Yara launches its first autonomous and emission-free container ship. The vessel is expected to enter commercial operation in 2022 and has been long underway since the project was first announced in 2017.

Following several years of preparation and protracted efforts, fertilizer producer Yara launches its autonomous zero-emission container ship, which along the way has garnered a lot of attention.

The container vessel, named Yara Birkeland, is meant to be able to load and unload, charge its batteries and navigate of its own accord, Yara states in a press release.
