Container rates beat record once again

The price of freighting a container from Shanghai to a series of key destinations around the globe keeps surging, surpassing the record level of last week.

Spot rates on container freight continue upward and beat the record set last week, according to the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI).

The index, which measures spot prices on container freight from Shanghai to a range of destinations around the world, increased this week by 1.7 percent to 4,894.62.
