CMA CGM froze spot rates at their highest

When CMA CGM in September 2021 froze further spot rate increases on the container market until Feb. 1, it occurred at a time when rates were at their highest. Thus, the carrier’s earnings haven’t suffered much, says Xeneta chief analyst.

Although CMA CGM in September last year froze spot rates in order to nurse customer relations, it probably hasn’t had much of an influence on the carrier’s earnings, according to new figures by analyst firm Xeneta, which has examined the average spot rate development on two of CMA CGM’s primary container routes.
