Maersk changes procedure in offence cases after legal struggle in US

The US Coast Guard and Maersk have been fighting over a fine given to Maersk for failing to report an offence case from 2014 and 2015 to authorities. After an appeal, the fine was annulled, and Maersk subsequently changed its internal procedures.

First, Maersk was given a fine for having failed to report a serious case to US authorities regarding presumed sexual offences against a deck cadet aboard Maersk vessel Idaho in 2014 and 2015.

Since, Maersk appealed the fine issued by the US Coast Guard, and the appeal was accepted.
