Maersk wants to reroute a metro line so that it stops at the shipping group’s headquarters in Copenhagen.

The so-called M3 line currently stops at Frederik’s Church (also known as The Marble Church), some 700 meters away.

But as Finans reports on Friday, a public consultation put forth by the company calls for a stop closer to the current headquarters as well as across the Port of Copenhagen by the Royal Danish Opera, which was a donation by the A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation.

A new stop would entail a rerouting of current plans for the metro line. Similarly, the added construction would mean added expenses of several billions as the line would have to proceed underground instead of the proposed elevated rail.

The hearing to the municipal authorities reveals that Maersk is open to enter into a dialog on ”how Maersk can contribute to the realization if needed.” However, the conglomerate waives confirming to Finans whether that means if it’s willing to pay.

Maersk is currently in the process of designing and constructing a major expansion to the current headquarters to be situated on the adjacent lot, Amaliegade 44. The new facility will house up to 1,000 employees.
