A shipowner based in China has hired Alfa Laval to ready four new vessels for sailing on methanol.

Alfa Laval, which produces e.g. equipment and technology for vessels, will thus install the so-called FCM Metanol systems on four mega container vessels of Chinese origin.

This is evident from a press release. However, it does not state which Chinese shipowner is behind the order.

The four ships are currently under construction at Chinese shipyards and will receive their methanol-enabling compatibility systems during 2024.

”We are honored to have been selected to deliver the methanol fuel supply systems for these pioneering methanol-fuelled vessels,” says Viktor Friberg, head of marine separation & fuel supply systems, Alfa Laval.

As part of the green transition of the shipping industry, major carriers have placed a still-growing number of orders at yards for ships that can sail on green methanol.
