Prospect of much-needed rain postpones restrictions in the Panama Canal

From Sunday, new depth restrictions would have made it more difficult for container ships to use the drought-stricken Panama Canal, but prospects of large rainfall have changed the situation.

Right before deadline, authorities have postponed the launch of restrictions that from Sunday were supposed to limit the number of large container vessels passing through the drought-plagued Panama Canal, Reuters reports.
