More and more Maersk warehouses are popping up in Europe at a time when rising inflation and slowing demand are creating a challenging market.

Since 2021, Maersk has nearly doubled its warehouse capacity in Europe to a total of 389,000 square meters, business daily Børsen writes.

It was in 2021 that the company announced plans to spend several billion kroner on expanding its network of warehouses in Europe, and it has continued to do so despite the negative market development over the past year.

”We are very pleased with this, and we look forward to opening more locations in the near future. Of course, the choice of specific locations may be adjusted along the way, as we work closely with our customers and their specific needs. In general, our expansion should be viewed strategically and in the longer term and not in relation to short-term macroeconomic developments,” writes Mikkel Søndergaard Rasmussen, Maersk’s Regional Manager for Logistics & Services in Europe, to Børsen.
