The large shipping company rules out nothing in advance when it becomes co-owner of a port company in Hamburg. Three major North German ports have previously negotiated a merger, according to media.

Container shipping company MSC, which is in the process of buying into Hamburg’s port operator HHLA, will not rule out anything prior to its entry into HHLA - including discussions about closer co-operation between the three major German ports of Hamburg, Wilhelmshaven and Bremerhaven.

This is according to an interview with the head of MSC’s German business, Nils Kahn, in the Handelsblatt.

Kahn emphasizes that now is not the right time to start such a debate as MSC’s entry into HHLA is not yet in place.
