Smaller vessels are popular as liner giants scramble for capacity

Charter rates have skyrocketed and even small vessels can be chartered out for several years, says MPC Container Ships.

Rising freight rates have made the charter market for container ships so hot that shipowner MPC Container Ships (MPCC) can now enter into charter contracts of up to two years for smaller container ships - and MPCC’s CEO, Constantin Baack, has not seen such strong demand in many months.
