The key tradelane betwen Asia and Northern Europe experienced a decline of USD 100 in the past week, corresponding to 10 percent, down to USD 888 per twenty-foot container (teu), says Norwegian analyst Platou, referring to the Shanghai Container Index (SCFI).

Capacity on the route increased by 15 percent, and is now seven percent higher than in the same week 2013. However liner schedules point in the right direction, says Platou, referring to the fact that SeaIntel expects a seven percent decline in capacity next week, corresponding to 28,000 teu.
