Maersk Line has ordered seven new container ships of 3,600 teu each from Cosco, as part of the container carrier's investment program of USD 15 billion for newbuildings, a retrofit program and other equipment for the carrier's fleet.
"I am very happy to announce this new order and the first in our investment programme. Our strategy is to grow with the market and to do so we need new vessels from 2017. We expect to place additional orders during 2015," says Søren Toft, COO of Maersk Line in a press release.
