CMA CGM quadruples its first quarter result

French CMA CGM follows on the heels of Maersk Line by delivering a significantly improved net result, a development not least attributed to increased efficiency and the decline in bunker prices.

The world's third-largest container carrier, France's CMA CGM, achieved a result of around USD 400 million in the first quarter 2015, compared to a profit of almost USD 100 million in the same quarter 2014, according to the carrier's interim report.

This improvement is particularly noteworthy in light of the fact that the revenue remained largely unchanged, at approximately USD four billion in both quarters.
