China penalizes 21 carriers for competition distortion

Several of the world's major container shipowners, including Maersk Line, Evergreen and CSCL have been fined by the Chinese authorities for illegal competition distorting deals. 21 carriers have been fined a total of USD 700,000, according to several media sources.

Numerous major container shipowners have been fined by the Chinese authorities for not observing the rules of competition on the container market.

The move concerns the elite among the world's container shipowners, including Maersk Line, MSC, CSCL, Evergreen, Wan Hai Lines and Yang Ming Marine Transport - a total of 21 shipowners which have overstepped the boundaries of competition legislation, according to several media sources.
