Container rates dip to lowest level on record

It has never been as cheap to have a container freighted from Asia out to the rest of the world as it was last week, according to the most recent calculation from the Shanghai index.

It became even more inexpensive to move a container from China across the globe last week, where the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) sank by 7.3 percent to an index of 433.46. This is the lowest reading on the index ever.
