Maersk Line surprises with Q1 profit

The container carrier finished the first quarter with a profit of USD 37 million. The Maersk Group as a whole delivered an underlying result of USD 214 million against USD 1.3 billion in the same period last year.

Maersk Line delivered a profit of USD 37 million in the first quarter 2016, according to the group's interim report, published Wednesday. The result represents a significant setback compared to a USD 710 million profit in the same period last year,  but the outcome is still better than projected ahead of the interim report.
