MCC targets Asia's new market Myanmar

There is currently no money to be made, but Maersk's intra-Asian carrier MCC Transport believes in Myanmar and views it as an investment in the future, CEO Tim Wickmann tells ShippingWatch.


Five years have passed since the military dictatorship shut itself down and spurred international society to lift the sanctions that had weighed down Myanmar for decades. With a population of more than 50 million people that have only just begun to enjoy material goods from the rest of the world, many view the Southeast Asian country as a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
