In just a few months, container shipowners have lost as much as they did all last year, according to seaIntel. The challenges for the full year 2016 are piling up.

The deep-sea container carriers stand to lose billions of dollars in 2016. The only question seems to be how big the total loss will be after the majority of the world's 20 largest carriers have presented financial reports for the first quarter of the year.
