The 2M alliance between Maersk Line and MSC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with South Korean container carrier Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) for the Korean carrier to join the alliance, Maersk Line confirms to ShippingWatch. The confirmation comes after HMM on Thursday issued a press release informing that the carrier is set to join the 2M alliance by April 2017.

According to Michael Storgaard, senior press officer at Maersk Line, the MOU means that the three parties have now in writing agreed to sit down and negotiate the conditions for the new partner's entry into the alliance.
