Hamburg Süd to withdraw eight vessels after EU demands

According to Alphaliner, Hamburg Süd will have to pull eight vessels from five consortia as a consequence of the EU's conditions for approving Maersk Line's acquisition. The carriers correspond to 11 percent of the carrier's total capacity.

Maersk Line must pay a price to secure approval from the EU Commission for its takeover of Hamburg Süd. The German container carrier, of which Latin America is the core business, must withdraw from Vessel Sharing Agreements in five consortia to and from Latin America, as a consequence of the approval from Brussels.
