Broker: New LNG vessels threaten growth in coming years

Half of the ordered LNG newbuilds were not delivered in 2017. The sizeable orderbook could threaten growth in the years to come, warns a broker firm according to Seatrade Maritime.

Half of the LNG vessels ordered were not delivered last year, shows a report from shipbrokers Banchero Coast according to Seatrade Maritime. This was good news for the LNG carriers in the short term, as the fleet grew by just 5 percent to 490 ships and noted the highest short and long-term rates in three years.
