Ardmore expects 2020 gains of up to five percent

Anthony Gurnee, CEO of Irish firm Ardmore, expects that the upcoming sulfur regulations of 2020 will mark a positive turning point for product tanker carriers. Demand could rise by up to five percent, he tells ShippingWatch.

The market will return to form on Jan. 1 2020.

This seems to be the hopeful mantra of the many hard-pressed shipowners in the product tanker segment, a market currently struggling with deep deficits in an environment characterized by low rates and huge overcapacity.
