US destroys Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump says that the US has destroyed a drone flying close to a US warship in the Strait of Hormuz. The drone was shot down the same day Iran announced it has seized a foreign tanker vessel.

Thursday, a US warship shot down an Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, says US President Donald Trump, according to news agency AP.

The drone approached vessel "USS Boxer", which therefore found it necessary to destroy the Iranian drone. According to the US president, the drone posed a threat to the vessel and its crew. It was therefore a "defensive action", says Trump.
